The madness began when mobile-review’s Eldar Murtazin tweeted that Samsung would rain on HTC's parade on March 14. Soon after, well-connected SamMobile added that the event would take place in New York City. The Verge then completed the leaky trifecta with a "definite" confirmation of March 14 in the U.S.
None of the reports mention a ship date for the handset, but we'd expect a staggered global rollout beginning several weeks after the event.
Curious timing
The alleged event date also comes a couple of weeks after Mobile World Congress. With Apple not expected to release new iPads until later in the year, that leaves mid-March as a prime-time slot for the Galaxy S4 to dominate headlines. It’s PR chess at its finest.
Previous Galaxy S IV leaks suggest a 5-inch, 1080p display, an Exynos 5 Octa (8-Core) processor, and ARM's Mali-T658 GPU under the hood. Other rumored details include 2 GB of RAM, and a 13-megapixel rear camera.
Stay tuned to Gizmag for more Galaxy S4 coverage as the event approaches. -ASV
